E-mail Print PDF

It was brought to our attention this week that there will be a trial run of road closures for the World Cup on Friday, 28th May 2010.

This may affect delegates attending the KZNMCC Conference. For your convenience we have uploaded the letter from Durban Transport suggesting alternate routes to take. To access it, click this link... http://www.kznmcc.co.za/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=41&Itemid=59

KZNMCC Conference 2010 - IPA Masterclass

E-mail Print PDF

Colleagues,

Health Care has escalated into a crisis. There are aspects we can manage and there are aspects we cannot.

We have invited Medical Aids to participate in a debate on these issues on Saturday, 29th May 2010 at 14h00 at the Elangeni Hotel.

Issue that need to be looked at include low option schemes, the transfer of risk to doctors and the huge administrative burdens that we find ourselves lumped with.

The IPA Master class is the meeting where you can listen, ask questions and debate issues.

This meeting is a must! We need your active participation. If you have ever had questions to ask, now is the time!

The KZNMCC Annual Conference 2010 has been in planning for many months, and there is huge input from the entire KZNMCC office and Conference Planning Committee made up of Professor Morgan Chetty, Dr Dawood Bobat and Kamlesh Maharaj.

We would however like to single out 23 platinum sponors without whom the conference would not be possible. We would like to thank them for their generosity, and would encourage everyone to support these companies when ever you are able to.

The Friday night ethics evening will also include a talk by Professor Margaret Nair on The Rights of Doctors.

We often hear the questionasked, "Why is the HPCSA expecting us to pay annual fees when they actually do not represent doctors, but sit in judgement of doctors?"

Is this true? What should be the role of HPCSA?

KZNMCC Conference 2010

E-mail Print PDF

The 2010 KZNMCC Conference is hot on schedule. The number of Platinum Sponsorships has increased this year. The weekend has been fully taken up in terms of the exhibition stands, workshops and speaker slots.

Ethics evening will address a number of issues aimed at teasing out Human Rights and the Withholding Essential Medical Care by medical aid guidelines and control. We hope to discuss the effect of the competition laws as it relates to healthcare.

A very important topic to be discussed is the massive growth of the low option schemes which pose a huge risk to the family practitioner. This trend appears to be the precursor to the NHI and many private healthcare groups are gearing themselves to prove to the DOH that they can manage the NHI so that they may vie for the management contracts. Discovery Health, Qualsa and Momentum will address these issues on 29/05/2010 at 13h00 hrs at an “IPA Master Class” program.

All practicing doctors should attend, participate and debate contentious issues.
